Bearing construction:
I built the altazimuth bearing with three squares of ¼ inch Teflon underneath a old 33 1/3 LP, the motion is smooth and it is cheaper then Formica.
The altitude bearing is ¼ inch Teflon with a brass lamp base as the other surface. I found the lamp bases at the Re-Store (a craft surplus store in Montpelier, Vermont).
